Skagit Valley College was operating their law enforcement and firefighter programs on the Mount Vernon campus in confining and outdated facilities which were in constant conflict with other college programs. The campus developed into a very crowded environment with constant interruption to public safety training. Skagit Valley College demonstrated dedication to public safety through their programs implemented long ago.
It was Skagit Valley Colleges desire to take their law enforcement and fire service training to the next level with the development of a dedicated training campus purposely designed to serve the law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services professions with state of the art training props and facilities not available currently within the region. The college would be the first outside of the existing Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission academy in Burien, to offer a full Washington law enforcement certification, preparing potential peace officers with the entry level of mandated training and relieving the tremendous backlog in academy training.
Interact Business Group was commissioned to explore the possibility of this becoming a reality.
