4 field training police officers appointed

Four Westfield police officers have been appointed field training officers to conduct evaluations on newly hired police officers. The officers, who will teach, train, coach and evaluate new recruits, are:
Michael Wheeler, who has 91/2 years of law enforcement experience and attended college. He is a uniform police officer with special duties, including public information officer and accident reconstructionist for the Westfield Police Department.
Elizabeth Hood, who has five years of law enforcement experience and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Indiana University. She is a uniform police officer with special duties as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education instructor.
Charles Nichols, who has five years of law enforcement experience and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He also is a graduate of the Indiana Police Corps. He is a uniform police officer with special duties, including DARE instructor and certified child safety seat installer.
Derik Hemingway, who has more than one year of law enforcement experience and is a staff sergeant for the Army National Guard. He served one year in Iraq.
Anne Cotham is an executive assistant with the city of Westfield.
